Vatican II reminded the Church that every member is called to be a missionary! Not all can go to another country, but all can do something every day to answer the invitation and call of Jesus Christ to spread the Good News. Those who cannot go in person have an equally vital role to play where they are. There are several ways to participate in this call to mission with the S.M.A. Lay Missionaries. MEMBERS You could become a Lay Missionary Member and offer yourself to serve in Africa. ALUMNI If you have already been an S.M.A. Lay Missionary, you become one of the Alumni. Alumni continue to live out their missionary calling in their present circumstances, through their witness, prayers, time, interest and resources. Alumni can be an important support to current Lay Missionaries. AFFILIATES if you cannot go to Africa or join S.M.A. directly at this time, you might become an Affiliate. Affiliates share the S.M.A. Lay Missionaries’ spirituality, values and goals. They live out their missionary calling at home in conjunction with S.M.A. by their witness, prayers, time, interest and resources. They help make it possible for members to serve in mission. |
