 S.M.A. Lay Missionaries serve primarily in Africa. The countries may vary from year to year depending upon needs and available personnel and resources. Historically the American Province of the S.M.A. Fathers and its Lay Missionaries served mostly in Liberia, but with the coming of civil conflict there in the 1980's, and changes in mission and in S.M.A., the areas of service expanded to other regions. Currently our Missionaries serve in Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, and (when possible) Liberia, as well as in the United States. All of these countries also host S.M.A. Fathers from various parts of the world, and some have S.M.A. Lay Missionaries coming from programs in the Netherlands and France.
